CHESTER LANE WRITERS

CONSTITUTION

1. NAME The club shall be called the Chester Lane Writers.

2. AIMS. By constructive criticism for those members requiring same and the pooling of knowledge to assist each other in all forms of Creative Writing.

3. OFFICERS. The club shall be managed by a committee comprising; Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. These officers to stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting to be held in October each year. All posts to be open for nomination.

4.MEMBERSHIP. Membership is open to anyone sixteen and over. Prospective new members are invited to attend one meeting as a guest before applying for membership and will be required to pay subscription fee on second visit. 

5.SUBSRCIPTIONS. Annual Subscription £2.50 per meeting thereafter, this fee being due in January. Any person joining from the first meeting in September after the summer break or later, will only be required to pay ¦1.50. 

6.COMPETITIONS. Each year there shall be two competitions, one short story and one poetry. Competition entry fee 20pence A book token of ¦5.00 shall be given for the winner, ¦3.00 for winner for the poetry. Wordage for the s/s is a maximum of 2000 and a maximum of 40lines for the poetry.

7.FINANCE. The treasurer shall be responsible for all monies received or paid out and shall produce an end of year account for presentation at the A.G.M. A Chairman's report and a Secretary's report will also be presented. Should the group disband, then any unspent monies received in the form of a grant will be paid back to St Helens Council

8.MEETING PROCEDURE. At meetings with a set topic, those members who have written on the topic to be given precedence over those members who have not. If the meeting time expires before each member has read, then those members will be invited to read first at the next meeting. There will be one open meeting per month.

9.AMENDMENT TO RULES. Any amendments to the foregoing rules shall be made at the Annual General Meeting where issues will be put to the vote.
